【Brainstorming with elites at AMTD】 Talent Cultivation and Continued Learning under the new economy in the new century

On 24th November, the second Global Advisory Committee meeting of AMTD Group was held in Hong Kong. The meeting gathered senior management of financial institutions, institutional investors and scholars around the world to discuss the investment opportunities and developments of global financial markets.

AMTD Group attaches great importance to talent cultivation and is committed to collaborating with different universities and educational institutions in the hope of incubating more specialized professionals for the society. In this meeting, special guests invited by AMTD include Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur, President of The University of Waterloo, Prof Annie Koh, Vice President, Office of Business Development of The Singapore Management University, Prof Wilson Tong, Professor of Finance of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Mike Moradi, CEO of Sensulin, a Young Global Leader. The guests had profound discussions with Angie Lin, Head of Asset Management of AMTD Group over the topic “Talent Cultivation and Continued Learning under the new economy in the new century”. Professor Wilson Tong, Professor of Finance of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University points out that Britain, the U.S., Germany, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore are all committed to becoming a FinTech center to seize the development opportunities. Talents are one of the most important factors in such development. PolyU is very pleased to collaborate with AMTD to jointly establish the AMTD FinTech Centre of PolyU Faculty of Business in the hope of cultivating more innovative talents and promoting technological development and innovation.

Prof Annie Koh, Vice President, Office of Business Development of The Singapore Management University comments that talent cultivation should not be constrained within the university. She thinks, apart from professional studies, students need guidance and training from industry leaders. She hopes that universities can put forward some extracurricular non-traditional courses to allow students to improve their abilities by working in enterprises. She looks forward to furthering the partnership with AMTD Group in the educational field.

Mike Moradi, CEO of Sensulin, class of 2017 of Young Global leader of the World Economic Forum speaks highly of the importance of innovation for enterprises from a perspective of an entrepreneur. He says that the future development of an enterprise must be supported by continuous innovation. He thinks, the collaboration, no matter between university and industry or between industries and industries, is beneficial for talent cultivation, innovative developments, lower costs and higher efficiency and enhances bilateral development.
