AMTD Group calls on the public to stay vigilant against websites impersonating to be affiliated with AMTD and related fraudulent behaviour.
AMTD has recently identified at least five impersonating websites and one financial services app which falsely represents as being developed or operated by AMTD and/or an associated entity.
The illegitimate strategy adopted by these malicious actors commonly includes: incorporating the trade name of the Group, i.e., “AMTD”, into the domain name of the fraudulent websites or name of the infringing app, displaying AMTD's distinctive trademarks and logos in prominent positions of the fraudulent websites or the infringing app, and replicating content from the Group's official websites.
AMTD's official websites are amtdgroup.com, amtdinc.com, amtdigital.net and thegenerationessentials.com.
Accordingly, AMTD urges the public to stay vigilant and to take note that the following websites and mobile application identified below are not associated with AMTD:
* amtdcap.com
* amtdsg.com
* amtdsgp.com
* amtdsg.zycrz.com
* amtdsg.com.zycrz.com
* “掌上AMTD” app (available for download on Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Tencent Ying Yong Bao)
The public should remain vigilant against suspicious websites and to avoid making monetary transactions with unverified and illegitimate parties. In particular, the “掌上AMTD” App claims to enable users to carry out various monetary transactions and investment activities; however, the “掌上AMTD” App is neither authorised by nor associated with AMTD and accordingly should be treated with the highest degree of caution.
AMTD has been taking vigorous steps to remove, suspend and cease the continued operation of these fraudulent online activities, including seeking civil and criminal recourse, notably by filing reports to law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
On this note, we are pleased to announce that the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre has ruled in favour of AMTD in a recent domain name complaint against the registration of <amtdcap.com>. The panel opined that the registration was made in bad faith and subsequently made an order of cancellation of <amtdcap.com>.
We will continue to monitor for any infringing online activities that could potentially harm AMTD’s reputation or compromise the interests of our stakeholders. We urge the public to stay alert and to report any suspicious websites or communications to the relevant enforcement authorities without delay.
