“Scare Out”: China’s First Contemporary National-Security Movie Sets for Lunar New Year Release

AMTD's newly movie release: China first contemporary national-security film created under the guidance of the Ministry of State Security of the People's Republic of China (MSS), “Scare Out” (the “Movie”), is officially set for a nationwide release during the 2026 Lunar New Year. The Movie's first trailer was officially premiered by authoritative platforms including MSS, CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, and the People’s Daily.

Directed by Yimou Zhang, the Movie features a stellar cast including Jackson Yee, Yilong Zhu, Jia Song, Jiayin Lei, Mi Yang, Yi Zhang, Cecelia Liu, and Yaowen Liu.

The Movie centers on a team of undercover national security officers living under assumed identities. In a silent, high-stakes battle with foreign spies, they carry out careful, strategic work to protect the nation. Timely and resonant, the Movie reveals the modern face of the national security front line, strengthens public awareness of counterintelligence, and mobilizes social support for national security.
